This training package is designed to navigate the complexities of secure communication, large data analysis, and collaborative research.
Key points:
Globaleaks: Here we will focus in the details of setting up and using this secure and anonymous whistleblowing platform. We'll explore how Globaleaks is designed, allowing customization to fit specific needs while prioritizing the protection of the whistleblower's privacy and submissions by default.
Securedrop: We'll learn about SecureDrop, an open-source whistleblower submission system tailored for media organizations and NGOs. This platform, available in 21 languages, emphasizes source security while leveraging the TOR network. With its dual-server setup and regular audits by third-party security firms, SecureDrop ensures top-tier security for anonymous submissions.
Liquid Investigations: Liquid Investigations, a suite of open-source tools. This training will focus on its features like indexing, OCRing, search capabilities, and more, all housed in a secure, self-hosted environment. We'll also delve into its core components, such as 'Hoover', and understand how it serves a vast journalistic network.
Aleph: We will explore Aleph, an open-source toolkit built for investigative data analysis. This session will guide you through its capabilities in generating, searching, and analyzing vast data graphs. With its core functionality, Follow the Money (FtM), we'll understand how Aleph aids journalists in tracking individuals and companies, especially in corruption investigations.
Throughout the training portfolio, participants will engage in hands-on exercises, real-world simulations, and case studies to reinforce their learning. We strive to create an interactive and immersive training environment that enables participants to apply their knowledge effectively.
Designed with the professional journalist in mind, these tools not only transform the investigative process but also prioritize security.
