Managing MySQL Databases in cPanel (Webspace)

Managing a MySQL® Database

Database creation:

  • In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database. Click Create Database and check for confirmation, then Go Back.
  • All databases can be monitored in the Current Databases section, where actions(Rename or Delete) can be taken for each database.

Creating a new user:

  • Enter a username in the Username text box.
  • Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes or use the Password Generator. * remeber to safely store this, as prompted by the interface.
  • Click Create User and check for confirmation, then Go Back.

Actions can be taken for Current Users in the appropriate section of the cPanel interface.


Adding users to databases:

  • In the Add User To Database section, select the desired user and database from the drop-down menus.
  • Click Add. The Manage User Privileges interface will appear.
  • Select the checkbox that corresponds to the privileges that you wish to grant the selected user(make sure to double-check the target user/database in the upper part of the page).
  • Click Make Changes then check for success confirmation and Go Back.

 

There is also an option to Check or Repair a MySQL database:

Click Check Database. A new interface will appear, and the system will check whether the database functions correctly.
OR
Click Repair Database. A new interface will appear, and the system will attempt to automatically repair the database.

cPanel offers a Database Wizard feature that covers the creation steps sequentially. (cPanel >> Home >> Database Wizard).
